I had a good discussion about this with a friend last week. Her point was that just by being there, photographing or not, you are participating. Your presence, along with everyone else’s, is what makes that event what it is, and removing any one person would inevitably change it. It’s kind of a zoomed out opinion of the event as a whole. Zooming in to an individual’s perspective, this becomes more and more relevant.
